Notes on "Reward Money" and the future of PENDING INCOME
Episode 1 Director's Note:
Our flaws contribute to our legitimacy. Let me clarify that: In making this first episode, this was in fact the second episode we ever filmed. Yes, we have an "unaired pilot" of sorts. Will that see the light of day any time soon? That is all up to Devin.
In delaying the episode until morning, and posting various notices about it, I hope we achieved some level of professionalism, enough to keep everyone coming back throughout the days to watch this until we actually post episode 2 at the time we promise next week. Technology, ultimately, isn't as chummy as you'd expect. Sometimes it simply does want to screw you over.
The footage we got does not nearly reflect the footage you see, but this is in the best way possible. I was pretty much forced, with Final Cut Pro's less-than-exact video capture tool, to piece quite a few shots that were to be complete shots, into stylish, cut-up-to-fit shots, and the result was something I didn't even expect.
So yes, our flaws contribute to our legitimacy and have rendered us more creative, not to say that we are "so great" but by our previous standards we are more creative than we've ever had to be, and more ambitious than ever. We shot this episode over the course of three very uncontrollable days, ripe with Apocalypse Now-type danger. But we prevailed, despite scheduling conflicts, bad weather, and constant interference from the outside world and their noises.
The sound isn't perfect, but that's because our crew is us, with me and William in front of the camera, and Devin on camera. So if anyone wants to be our fourth crewman for sound and other such nonsense, by all means, get ahold of us.
Speaking of which: pendingincome@gmail.com. Use it to contact with ANYTHING, but especially ideas for future schemes, locations, if you have a house we can film in, a pool table, a puppy, igloo, anything, please get ahold of us. Even if you just want to say hi, do that too, we'll love it.
Stay tuned to this blog all the time because you never know what you'll get, from bloopers, original scripts, to production photos and interesting goings-on in our semi-professional lives.
And now it's here, episode 1 of hopefully many and definitely 13 for the season. Over these next couple of weeks, you will get a serving of two more episodes. As a viewer, your mission will be to let everyone know about these episodes while we take a hiatus for schooling, but we will return this summer with 10 more episodes and a few more surprises to boot.
Thank you.
